U.S. ambassador to the UN joins Israeli U.S. and U.N. ambassador in call for innovative approaches.
Israeli Ambassador to the United States and United Nations Gilad Erdan and U.S. Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield urged the adoption of new innovations and technologies to prevent domestic violence this week. The United Nations held an event in New York on Wednesday as part of its annual Commission on the Status of Women.
“Domestic violence is a despicable and horrifying phenomenon and eliminating it from our homes and societies must be a priority for all of us,” said Ambassador Erdan. “We need to fight this in the same way we fight against COVID-19 and terrorism. Terror at home is terror. We can no longer wait for a life to be ruined or taken before we act.”
“There’s no vaccine for the shadow pandemic of gender-based violence. But with you as partners, we may just find an equivalent technology that can prevent gender-based violence and provide a proactive solution to the shadow pandemic,” Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield said.
